I hope you are well. I need your help and advise.
I have moved to France in August 2024 coming from UK. I’m a micro entrepreneur and at the moment working 100% for UK, different clients. I have a Pro Revolut Account which allowed me to have one account in Euros and one in Pounds. so my clients in UK send the payment to the Pounds one.
Today a potential client From US contact me for a job. My question is how should invoice them and also, can I add a USD account in my Revolut for the payment without any problem? and once I received it i move the money to my Euro account.
Dont know about invoicing (same as for anyone else I’d imagine), but yes, you can add USD (or almost any currency) to your Revolut account very easily .
Dead easy - as has been said just add an extra currency. I have UK Pounds, Euros and Dollars in my Wise account.
As for invoicing, you can either invoice them in dollars and take the currency risk yourself (or add on a bit to allow for it), or invoice them in Euros and let the client take care of buying Euros at their end.
When I get paid by Adobe and other stock photo libraries they always pay me in dollars so I just do a conversion back to GBP when I receive the money, and that’s what gets put down in my accounts as a sale.
If it was me I’d use the new stream of income as a reason to open a Wise account.
Others have different experiences of Revolut however with any fintech, if you (or they) get a problem you can easily find your account blocked and possibly some action that turns out to be difficult or take a long time for the fintech to process, to be required and unblock the account. So especially with some fintechs I would never want to have all my money with 1 fintech only.
