Can anyone tell me (before I give away my phone (landline) if it will work if I take it to the UK? It's 2 years old, max, so has a little Ethernet type plug, rather than a clunky France telecom one?

We have an old bell type phone from the 1960s. Our regular electrician changed the connector cable and it worked fine (mind you we have 'decommissioned' it because it is too loud) so that must be the case for you the other way round. The connector (plug) will need changeing.
It should work as is the same a a standard BT plug. :)
