Garden shed recommendations

Maybe it’s a life stage thing, maybe it’s because the people we bought from were dwarves and bought a shed to fit, but we need a new garden shed.

Wood, I think. Maybe with a place to store wood.

Are there national firms that specialise in that? I see that Leroy M and Weldon etc do it, but I’d rather have a specialist. And ideally a local firm (86, 49, 37, 79).

Ah, but what will you do with your old one?

A former housemate of mine (it was actually a bungalow) went on to do this, and it ended up in the Tate….

Reminds me of a school mate, asked in technical drawing to draw an exploded view of a bicycle lamp. No prizes for what he drew

You don’t need a new shed in order to store wood, Porridge. Open sided wooden structures with a roof are the best way to store wood for burning. :fire:

Did you ever order your new shed and is it a big’un?

Big enough to have to declare it to the authorities??

5m2 isn’t big, that’s the point at which you have to declare?

Yes, that’s what I was thinking. You can get sheds with the roof extended at the side, held up by posts.

We went to the Mairie when I had the idea and came away with the documents for taking down the old one and putting up the new.

(The old one is just under 5m2. I think around 8m2 will do it. I’ll need to accommodate a récuperateur d’eau, a 1m cube, also: I might put that at the back of the wood store, if we have one.

It’s still at the planning stage  but Madame has agreed we do it next year.

Is that a requirement?

No, but we’ve already got it

Good idea to put the water thingy behind the wood frame at the same time. How would you access this to get at the stored water? Invaluable to have some free rain water to hand:droplet:

I was thinking of a pump. It will depend on which side of the shed the wood pile and collector are. The lawn might benefit from sprinkling.

(I also have a vague plan to install PV panels on the roof, though I doubt 8m2 will light up much!)
