Gilet Jaunes blockages were the final straw

This riverside restaurant has finally closed down… due to failing finances. The continued interruption to its clientele, by the Gilet Jaune persistent actions at Trelissac, has seen diners’ numbers drop by 42%.

such a shame…

This is a super little spot which has provided employment/training and integration for handicapped workers for the past several years.

That is totally disgusting.
I am so sorry for all involved.

The forthcoming Bordeaux marathon has now been postponed until October because of the GJ’s, I’d much rather Macron deal with them than play the tough guy in the Brexit saga.

But how?

Good news - support for the Jilly Joneses as a political party option in the upcoming Euro elections has fallen from 13% to just 3%.

Fabulous! Just remember they have a massive anti-immigrant agenda. As an immigrant that doesn’t go down too well with me therefore zero respect, zero support.

They were allying themselves with unsavoury characters.
Serves them right.

I suspect this is why Macron isn’t whacking them, he is letting them hoist themselves by their own petard in the hope that the stirrers won’t get anywhere in the elections.

I would have liked to have thought that something positive could have come about from all this…but it’s hard to see what that may be; particularly since all the unpleasantness erupted.
Once again, in my view, a perfectly valid protest hijacked & turned on its head by “extremists”, for want of a better term…fuckwits by any other name, in my opinion.
Shame…

I have been following this subject very closely since Early 2018. Unfortunately this kind of reporting and the general media coverage of the Gilet Jaunes has been gouvernement backed .There is so much more going on than we are led to believe. Their battle is far from lost but will surely dure much longer than most expect . A lot of French are now steering clear of mainstream media and opting for smaller independent sources for they daily dose of what is going on . I could go on for ever but I think it maybe hard to change minds made up.

Yes even rational cartesian people such as we have a percentage of conspiracy theory addicts and swallowers of ‘alternative truth’ (also known as pernicious bollocks).

Here’s what I replied to another tread on the Jilly Jones a few weeks ago, & seeing how they’ve gone from a movement ‘solidaire’ for the cut of rising petrol prices to tout et n’importe quoi & a movement ni tete ni queue… make up your own minds.

Yes, but they are french, they will soon go back to their various different & divided factions.

This part of the sentence is superfluous.(imho).

Vero, I don’t think so. This was written and sung Renaud (French) a few years ago, but…
I find it sooo tongue in cheek, included the lyrics for those that may not understand & may like to translate.
The last two lines uhmmm anything changed?

Y me font pitié ces imbéciles.

There were a few Gilet Jaunes that tried to get into the européen elections , they were massively discouraged by the vast majority of supporters of the Gilet Jaunes , one even heckled from a march in Paris a few weekends ago. They know that they would only
help the REM out by taking votes away from other potential candidates. They also know that they would be able to change absolutely nothing in France from a seat or two in Brussels .

Hummmmmmmm :thinking::thinking::thinking: Bienvenue David…

The surest way to see the truth for yourself is to witness a GJ’s protest so perhaps David McG would like to visit a major town on a Saturday afternoon and then report back.:grinning:

Ours are still here Tim & still very peaceful…
I’d like to agree with David, as I believe the Gouv. , various media etc., all have a hand in bending events to portray things their way…that said, I don’t want to get all conspiratorial, or next we’ll be starting an X-files thread to ask if R. Murdoch is an alien, or just a cross between a (near-)human & a Galapagos Tortoise.

There is a large camp of GJ’s in our nearest town and they are also peaceful Bob so I don’t have a problem with that, however we have not been able to visit our son in Bordeaux since the protests began, he works so Saturday is the best day for us to meet up, with the trams closing at midday and the city centre a ‘no-go’ area there’s little point in us driving down just to sit in his tiny apartment for a few hours, a crazy situation which is 100% real and not made up by the government or the media.

Same here - Toulouse is pretty much a no-go zone on Saturdays - a sad sight to behold. No transport, streets deserted (until the protests start!), many shops / businesses are boarded up on a Friday night and reopen for business the following week. Many have thrown the towel and, as a direct result, many have lost their jobs. In fact Occitanie is the worst affected area in the country for job losses directly linked to Jilly Jones activity. It’s been devastating for this beautiful city - for local commerce and residents alike. Again - 100% real, not made up by the government or the media. Come and have a look… or is it a question of eyes wide shut?

À lot of my coverage of the weekends event in large cities is not from what you see on the Telly , it is based on me jumping from livestream to live-streams both from journalists, behind and in front of police lines and also everyday people live-streams. I am far from a complotist , never seen a ghost or a UFO. I just believe , as Moulder from the exfiles says ’ the truth is out there ´ , you just have to dig around a little , peal off a few layers. I have had the time recently to do this due to hip replacement and not being able to work for the last few months. This is just my point of view, me sharing info, my opinion . I am not judging , only watching.
