What a signal to the rest of the world.
Apparently he wants to sack anyone in the FBI who doesn’t agree with him.
He is a monster.

Can a country, say France, reject a nominated ambassador, or do they simply have to suck it up to avoid retaliation?

It’s been done occasionally (apparently, according to t’ internet). But rare and usually before the candidate is announced in public.

Ah, here we go - yes:

1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations:

Article 4

  1. The sending State must make certain that the agrément of the receiving State has been given for the person it proposes to accredit as head of the mission to that State.
  2. The receiving State is not obliged to give reasons to the sending State for a refusal of agrément

Go on then France.
We now seem to have Elon Musk wanting to fund Reform to the tune of £100.

I’m sure Farage would be grateful for a donation of a hundred quid - it’d let him buy a round for all his friends in his local Wetherspoons.

Were Musk to donate - say - $100,000,000 then it would be far more dangerous :money_mouth_face: :money_mouth_face: :money_mouth_face:

Sorry, it was meant to be £ 100 million.

He’s better qualified than Gaetz was. The fact that he’s a convicted felon seem to be irrelevant now.

And the circus rolls on …

It’s a qualification.

Jane, you’re right. This is Trump’s mission to dismantle entire government/agencies, and appoint only true loyalists to his cabinet and elsewhere to do his bidding and dirty work. Fire and go after those at the top who will not bow down. Including the media. It is horrific for us all! Not just for the US, but the world.

It’s going to be a very interesting experiment though. A whole bunch of people who haven’t a clue what they are doing running key departments, and meanwhile Musk will take a scythe to budgets and headcount.

I wonder what will break first.

Yes, but which bit? We could organise a sort of SF Christmas raffle. We all pick a department each and see who’s blows up first. I bags the Pentagon, Hegseth’s some piece of work, or maybe the FBI if the nutcase Patel gets past the Senate.

They’ve got a nutcase Patel as well? :astonished:
