To all the foodies!
A great article about the mystique of French food.
"Why Can't We Let Go Of Julia Child....."
Hope you can get into the link. Let me know if you cannot.
The end of the article argues that French food has declined since the highday of Julia Child's writings in the 1970s...
I beg to differ.
What do you think?

Great article. I love Julia Child but she is of the age, and her East Coast attention to detail, spawned by the boredom of being a diplomatic wife, while interesting is reminiscent of the culinary prescription/proscriptions of Escoffier. Personally I prefer the spirit of Elizabeth David and the academic rigour of Jane Grigson. If you want to ameliorate the two then maybe Robert Carrier. Certainly the quality of fine French food is far better than when Child was writing but today you would be pressed to find the sort of solid cuisine bourgeoise that set the Troisgros brothers en route for fame in Roanne. Personally I can never forgive Meryl Streep for portraying that bitch Thatcher but would forgive her for Child.
