Holocaust Memorial Day: Portraits of last remaining UK survivors unveiled
And my aunt, who survived Bergen-Belsen.
The lady pictured in the link posted by @Griffin36 was interviewed at length on Womanâs Hour yesterday. Very moving.
Another year, another Holocaust Memorial Day. A minute of two to reflect.
For those of you you have access to BBC television there is a three part series available on BBC4called the US and the holocaust. Itâs a Ken Burnâs documentary amd I watched first episode so far which is interesting.
Good to see that for the first time Germany is focusing its annual holocaust commemorations on people who were persecuted or killed for their sexual or gender identity.
Well yes, given that the holocaust victims have a lifespan are they expanding the cause?
What a lovely thing to do. They all deserve to be remembered.
Itâs not an expansion but a recognition (albeit a bit late) that these half million or so were also murdered.
There is also a bit of energy behind the recognition that we are still here. This is an exhibition that was in Berlin earlier this year which focuses on the next generations.
Itâs also important that we remember the first Nazi concentration camps were not for jews or any other ethnicity or sexuality/gender - they were for the communists.
Niemöllerâs confession is quite literally true: âFirst they came for the communistsâŠâ
I find your post offensive. The use of âthatâ country to refer to Germany and the frankly tired and whinging old chestnut of âthe French donât like the Englishâ. To be honest, is it any wonder?!

Learning from history. May require hearing some unpleasant truths but in case anyone is interested this BBC documentary review is riveting
