Evening all,
I would like to surprise my Dad and my Sister by going home for Christmas this year but it has to be a quick trip and the flights are horrendous or unworkable times as I won't have a car to get me to and from the airport.
I have found train tickets for 348€ to London St Pancras via Eurostar and I can get a train to Bedford from St Pancras for a decent price too so the price to beat as it stands is 400€!!
Has anyone heard about any buses or other way that could get me home as a cheaper alternative?
Any other suggestions or tips would be much appreciated.
Many thanks :)
It is indeed very cheap but timings don't work for me :(
Thanks anyway - worth keeping for future reference!!
It works for ferry bookings as well :)
Damaris , I am also looking at my options for a quick trip back for Christmas and came across this... unbelivably cheap ! http://booking.idbus.com/ScheduleSelect.aspx
Well that settles it...booking on the UK site is nearly 75€ cheaper!!!!!! Thanks everyone for your help. I do believe I'll be going home for Christmas :)
Good plan Bernadette. I'll give it a go. I always used to use that site when I lived in the UK too but had forgotten all about it as I haven't been back for a few years. :)
Thanks Tony. I had looked at Easyjet and flights were reasonable but timings a bit difficult for leaving fro Gatwick. I hadn't thought of the co-voiturage to the airport! Nice one :)
I did look Marie-Antoinette but when I put in departure from Tarbes, it only gave me the option to go to France, Spain and Portugal. I would have to train it up to Paris anyway to get the bus so I will probably do the Eurostar route but thanks for the thought :D xx
Damaris have you checked the Eurolines bus lines Last year I had two American girls visiting me who went to London, Oxford and Newcastle with that bus line, the price was very reasonable and they were happy. The earlier you reserve the lower the price.

http://www.eurostar.com/uk-en/book/train/outbound-train Just had a look and it is from £96 each way from Lourdes
Have you tried booking the train through Train Line in the UK. It has always worked out a lot cheaper for us that way.:)
