How to request a quote for a swimming pool?

There has been some excellent advice and information provided on SF about pools, including what and who to avoid. (@Corona is particularly knowledgeable)

I remain uncertain as to what to to include in a request for a quotation for an ICF pool in order to get the right construction, insulation, liner, pool room equipment and to avoid as many pitfalls as possible.

Has anyone got a standard layout/format for such a request appropriate to be sent to a french pool builder? Or have advice on an alternative method to get a quotation assuming I have no knowledge (which is the correct assumption)?

Also, we have swum in a friends saltwater pool which was more pleasant than chemically treated pools. Is saltwater a good method to maintain cleanliness?

Thank you
Graeme

A salt water pool is a chlorine pool, the mild salt solution is broken down in an electrolyser cell (electrolysis) to produce a small amount of chlorine. Some say they feel the salt water is better but its subjective. Likewise when direct dosed chlorine pools once the chlorine has broken down leaves a low residual salt element in the water which in the end means much the same. It is however a way of bringing in some automation to the process, used with lower alkalinty levels than the industry states will reduce the pH climb usually associated with salt chlorine generation.
