Identity fraud reaching epidemic levels, new figures show

Yes and I was victim around a few months ago…second time and UK related …having given hotel reception workers my card details to reserve a room. Staff come and go in these big hotels.
I can see no other way in which my details could be stolen as my card has been with me all the time. But once again HSBC are clumsy with their actors and their scripts and refuse to pass you any further than Go.

Here’s apparently one way to steal credit card info: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-41081396

Why don’t they keep the cards at the branch for collection instead of posting them out?

In US you get the card by snail-mail, then you have to call and activate it. Not sure how that works in UK

My French bank used to do that.
