Improve your French. And your cooking…!

Our Friday night kicked off with a birthday party apero for a friend and this is what we took as a present

Why? Well because we have a copy and despite having 100’s of cookery books, Monsieur swears that this is one of the very best. And because the teenage son has been following the tiramisu recipe for months now and has got to the stage where his tiramisu is actually the best I have ever eaten. And because the birthday boy in question wants to improve his culinary repertoire!

The books in this series are a bit of a foodie bible in France. I haven’t seen the others but this is absolutely excellent and if you love Italian food I highly recommend you treat yourself. Or buy it as a ‘present’ for your OH. And then request they make you a tiramisu….

The price of Books, these days crazy. I know you can get cheaper books used, and good condition. I bought this book by Michel Roux “Sauces” savoury & sweet.

Another lovely book is Bruno’s Cookbook by Martin Walker and his wife.

The Bruno Courreges series of books set in the Dordogne give wonderful scenes of shared meals cooked by Bruno and his friends.

I got it from Kindle Daily Deals and it is in colour on my tablet.

Try Awesome books. They will mail upto 6 books from the UK to France for about £5. Most are secondhand, take about a week to arrive. They are a charity of some description.

François Régis Gaudry is marvellous - he’s on Inter every Sunday with his excellent programme On Va Déguster which is where the books come from, and makes nice videos too.

He does Top Chef, doesn’t he? I think he’s very knowledgeable and not OTT.

Is that on television? I’m clueless as I haven’t got one.

Yes. M6.
