I didn’t know gliders we’re used on D-day. Some were able to be retrieved using the ‘snatch’ method by Dakota’s, as can be seen if you watch the video in the link below.

You need to visit the museum at Pegasus Bridge Chris. Loads of gliders were used in that operation. The original bridge is in the museum.

Thanks Peter. I happened to see a vid about the gliders on TV in a programme about rebuilding a Dakota. Seems such a bonkers idea, but it did work!
