I watched this recently, @Corona, and indeed it mentions the impact Aircon has had on climate change. Also how the materials used and the designs of buildings has made city centres like Paris and Lyon so much hotter. You might enjoy it too…
If anybody doubts that there is a quid pro quo to the use of aircon I should tell you of my experience in that 2 and a half hours in Agen.
While Jules and I stayed relatively healthy, I couldn’t understand why my feet were burning hot, 'till I realised that sitting in the open driver’s door facing outside there was a tremendous heat underneath the car from the steadily running engine.
Hi Michael,
Glad you’ve got settled in.
I’ve posted on this before, if your aircon is through air to air heat pumps, there may be other modes such as simply fan, and dehumidifier, both cool well, also more economical and environmentally friendlier.
Thanks Mark - I must try those modes. We’re enjoying rural France. We plan to celebrate our recent birthdays at La Racine et La Moelle. Hope there isn’t a waiting list.
Excellent! We ate there with friends a couple of weeks ago.
Best to book as far ahead as possible because Figeac’s full of tourists. If it’s booked outt, here’s a promising looking one just opened this week around the corner from La Racine - it’s called Le Bistrot Nomade and and the menu looks interesting - it’s set in a large mediaeval courtyard.
I used these in UK with sash windows
May be useful for some in France
I got similar from AvosDim which we use for the sliding door in our bedroom so can keep it open at night,
I wanted to order a pull down screen from them with a white aluminium frame. They had no white except in made to measure so for expediency I ordered one. A couple of days later I discovered the delivery date was mid August! Supposed to help with heat at night - now. I told them I wanted to cancel and re-order frames to cut myself which were now available in white. They refused (politely) pointing out the frame was already being made.
Which of course is not true otherwise delivery would not be August. Lying b stewards
Entirely plausible in France. There are several public holidays to contend with, and already workforce on leave.
You may well get lucky and find the item delivered much sooner.
I frequently find this happens with Amazon orders. My husband says they are practicing the “Under promise and over deliver" business strategy.
Then they have not been made as the bank holidays and such would also cause manufacture to slow. Its only the 12th of July after all.
