And I’ve got a job list as long as my arm.
This week is going to be Busy - with a capital B!
How about you? What’s everyone up to this week? Hopefully doing something outside and enjoying the sunshine…
CdS renewal covocation, strimming the jungle formally known as as the garden back to being movable and generally working through all the odd jobs I’ve put off for months.
Being taken out for lunch tomorrow for my saint’s day, weeding, washing, ironing and a trip to Lidl are on the agenda. Possibly a trip to IKEA in Gerona end of the week, depends on Spanish petrol station strikes currently for cheaper fuel.
Planting out more veg today, chair yoga tomorrow then down to Thirsk Wednesday visiting my sister, Thursday a manic house tidy ready for daughter and family arriving for a long weekend. The following week I’ll be mostly lying down in a darkened room!
Been waiting at the clinic for an ultrasound appointment since silly o’clock this morning
Took my Mum to the doctor’s first thing to get her wishes regarding resuscitation etc. officially recorded.
Now sending off photos for last week’s three photo shoots to the respective clients.
Another headshot shoot in Camberley tomorrow then I have a small stand at the Surrey Business Expo on Wednesday.
Taking Rona this afternoon for a “toilletage”. Done properly, an Airedale is “stripped” by hand - exhausting for dog and dog groomer - it keeps the colour of the coat impeccable. But Rona has had elbow ops and mild hip dysplasia, so comfort, and less time in the table is more important than look, and she will be razored back to a sensible, neat length.
She’s being done by a friend who lives 90 minutes away, north of Bergerac. While Rona is being done, I’ll head for a large Bergerac supermarket and do some shopping.
Rest of the week, heading towards my colonoscopy next Monday morning - first check up after last year’s op - so echography this Wednesday (hope I don’t have to wait as long as @Mark ) then the extreme tedium of a no fibre diet for five days. I’ve told OH I won’t be eating with him. So he’ll be able to have curry every night!
Otherwise, gardening (of course) and getting the house ready to put on the market - clearing the garage (the back wall is falling down and needs stabilising) and putting my study back to a bedroom, so they can take photos for the ads. Frequent trips to the decheterie and the recycling place no doubt.
Currently having a heat pump survey and once the guy leaves we’re off to Great Yarmouth for a walk on the beach with the dog followed by chips on the market.
I’m hoping to finish the walls today and fit the shower mixer and screen and if there’s any more left in me, I will prime the walls ready for painting..I all goes well, I’ll hang the new loo and sink cabinet.
Then there’s an oak floor to lay and finally the bath then silicone and then I’m back outside on the wall…..
It’s fun and so far no accidents
but I’m going to need my wife to help move and fit the shower screen…it’s so heavy!
Look forward to some photos of the finished job.
What paint are you using? Lime, or chalk? Or modern?
My excitement this week is that, among other things, I have the first proper session with my Sports Santé Coach à domicile. Having moved at the wrong time of year all local classes are full, and don’t want to wait until sept for new season. Had a small intro last week, slightly weird exercising 1:2:1 with a total stranger in one”s home. Hopefully it will feel more normal tomorrow.
Just demolished a rickety rotting wooden garden shed. It was built directly on earth and was so unstable, once the roof was taken off, it started to lean to one side.
Next, create a concrete base for the new shed and once it’s set properly, put up the new shed.
Busy Busy Busy …
Unfortunately, those days are over for me both physically and mentally ![]()
I’m better now in short bursts ![]()
I’m using ‘normal’ but quite pricey paint especially for bathrooms but in a snazzy Farrow & Ball colour.
The small Maoline is the primer.
I realise I’m inadvertently recreating our bathroom in our apartment in The Hague…. (No points for originally for me)… So here a picture of that one and I’ll send one of this one on completion.
Routine annual ramonage and clean of our poêle à granulés this afternoon, or so we thought..One minute into the ramonage, and golf ball sized bits of plasterboard located above the poêle (presumably to prevent soot, dirt falling into the living room) start falling down..The technician called his boss on the phone for advice, and the boss immediately orders him off the job for safety reasons. I haven’t seen health and safety taken this seriously before here, but quite understand. We are being offered a free ‘audit’ of the state of the plasterboard, before it’s presumed replacement..And ramonage - take 2.
Interesting as seems also humidity regulating. Since we have serious damp issues (hopefully now ameliorated) we’ve gone for chaux paint with appropriate quartzite undercoat. Also expensive so will look up whether yours a fraction cheaper for next room.
Loved the bathroom, until I got to the bath - where do you put your book?
I did make about 20 litres or limewash about 9 months ago (chaux aérienne and water) but because the walls in this bathroom are dry lined, the lime paint (I don’t think) would work too well hence a paint more suited to plaster board.
I’ll use the limewash on some walls I’m messing around with with chaux chanvre and lime plaster as soon as get the time.
Yes, this bath tub is huge and I did not use it much for fear of drowning. The book and the glass of champagne actually do fit quite nicely on the window sill.
I love the specification of your paint and I’m sure it will do the trick.
Here’s a picture of a stone wall, mud bedding and chaux chanvre. I’m letting this wall dry out this summer before re-plastering. Apologies if you have seen this before.
Right, we’ll all check and make sure that they match…
This is what we used, quite thick, but needed the plasterboard bandes underneath to be carefully prepared and used their undercoat,
We’ve now become fans of a local firm we recently discovered, and went to visit their newly renovated house yesterday. Completely blown away by their Belgian vmc thingy, but they also do all sort of interesting products. I think we’ll use their nature & harmonie chalk paint for other rooms as can colour match to anything,
