It's time to stop Israel, by any reasonable means

I can’t agree with the part of the title after the comma because that would mean all out war against the State of Israel and involve many civilian casuaties, just as the Israelis have been doing.

But I do condemn unreservedly the actions of that state, its war criminal leader and the soldiers of the IDF itself for their brutal ignoring of all civilised rules of war. In fact I do believe they deliberately target civilians, which makes them terrorists far in advance of anything done in October last year. Pot calling kettle black does not even come close, and although they are not committing mass transports to gas chambers, there is little to discriminate them from the Nazis in many ways.

So, short of war, what can be done, only the immediate and complete alienation of the State of Israel. No contacts with the outside world and most of all complete sanction of anything and especially arms and amunitions. Sadly, the opposite is happening now with the reported arrival of American troops in the region in support of a rogue state.

It’s almost as though America is deliberately looking to start a war, but on someone else’s territory.

Will they eventually wake up when Israel turns on them and fires a rocket to mainland US territory ?

Their tails are up. No one will rein them in so the only way I can see is for someone to stop Iran funding their puppets. But that is not going to happen either.

I note Saudi is keeping very quiet along with others in the region - I would have thought they might try to knock some sense in there somewhere.

The Saudis are going to nothing unless Iranians or Iranian supported groups start targeting them. They’ve got a mutually beneficial truce and co-operation deal with Israel and are also trying to clean up their corruption and other shenanigans to appear a sensible investment partner to the West as the Saudis know that their petrochemical rich kid days are coming to a close.

Other Arab states are quiet because they want Iran’s constant pot-stirring to end, but they can’t be seen to be backing Israel publicly.

As for “stopping” Israel, that’s not happening unless Washington can bribe or sweet talk them, because military action against Israel would be a catastrophically bad idea.

Fair point David. I’ve added “reasonable”.

I know where David is “coming from”, and I know that neither side has the moral high ground.

But Israel is not being “reasonable”, and Labour’s position reprehensible.

If only Netanyahu knew the meaning of the word.

Israel can if they have continued air defence protection from the USA and they don’t use WMDs.

No doubt they will have had back channel talks with their more amenable neighbours to establish what actions would be seen as “going to far” in their eyes.

While we struggle day to day with our, in the scheme of things, minor irritations, we need to also acknowledge that a genocide is going on, don’t we? Otherwise we are complicit.

The US Government could soon put a stop to Israel’s activities by shutting off the supply of arms, and by withdrawing the carrier group from the eastern Med that assists in Israel’s air defence.
Unfortunately, this isn’t going to happen in a US presidential election year for fear of losing the Jewish American vote in a very tight race for the White House. Additionally, there is an awful lot of money being made by US arms manufacturers selling their goods to Israel at present.

Clearly, there is a form of genocide in progress in which the US government is without doubt both complicit and a facilitatory actor.

Done Robert.

Done.

Ever since the British pulled out of Palestine in 1948 (generally we were the source of some s—show or another - see partition.) there has been trouble to one degree or another in that region. Fighting started the day that Britain left. The Israeli’s should not be there. They have for decades and decades oppressed their neighbours, stolen land and are basically now led by a far right populist extremist with a radical cabinet.

Yes what happened last October was horrific , but given their treatment of their “neighbours” over decades what did they expect eventually?

Netenyahu is a war criminal and should be arrested and tried as such. It’s quite sickening seeing a Jewish state commit genocide (with the support of the west) given their fairly recent history. Appalling.

Indeed.

I see that Yahya Sinwar may have been brought to justice, not by one of the IDF’s “carefully targeted” attacks that have murdered +/- 15,000 children, but by a random patrol firing a shell into a damaged building and causing it to collapse. No doubt the IDF lies machine is quickly trying to rewrite that embarrassing fact into some feat of derring-do.

Let us hope that Netanyahu, Gallant, Ben-Givr, Smotrich et al are also brought to justice someday.

Done petition signed .
While I am here, what makes you (or anyone else ) think Israel will respond in a affirmative manner to any reasonable means ? Is it reasonably to harass and evict Palestinians from their own land ? is it reasonable to shell and bomb schools and hospitals and kill over 40,000 mostly women and
children?
Those of a cynical nature might wish to look at a map of the area, you might have the thought that there are some really nice beaches in Gaza ripe for development, hotels/ apartments shopping centres
