His facetious remark was taken as anti Muslim whereas no one seems to bother that I really object to women being forced to cover themselves because they must remain modest because men cannot control their base urges.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who realises this is the function of the burqa.
BoJo is an utter idiot and thus ideally suited to high political office in the dysfunctional, dystopian world in which we find ourselves.
That said whatever I think about JRM I do not condone this sort of violence. You are right, however, to worry that it will become more commonplace - perhaps even inevitable and necessary before political balance is restored.
