I just caught Jill talking to Peter White http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00cdg19 and usually I hate “my triumph over illness and disability” type books but this sounds excellent and if you listen to the clip, you’ll want to know more about this lady who has battled for the rights of those with a visual impairment. For instance, she became blind in one eye from an early age, but didn’t tell anyone, nor did her mother and then on her wedding day she completely and painfully lost her sight…as she went to cut the cake and carried on literally “regardless”. Her mother told everyone she’d got married but not that she’d gone blind!
