John Wyndham "No Place like Earth" radio broadcast

I suspect most of us read John Wyndham in our schooldays and have since forgotten about him. Unlike most of the tedious things I was forced to read at school, I actually enjoyed John Wyndham, so I was interested in today's broadcast No Place Like Earth which you can listen to on the iPlayer.

It covers the influence of WW2 on his writing, amongst other things, and the rôle of women in his books. Because of the part they played in the war, doing men's work, he wrote a story imagining a world without men, his women were confident and intelligent rather than screaming twits in the face of alien invasion and other horrors! He has been criticised as being to cozy in his outlook by some but like HG Wells before him, he predicted the future.
