Just been Honoured!

I have just been honoured! Our small village Puy d'Arnac, like most has a Salle de Fete, and they hold a yearly exhibition of more or less local documents concerning WW1, mainly family stuff, histories etc. I believe.

The word obviously has got about that I am interested in this subject, and the Maire has asked me if I would be interested in helping them make it a bigger affair by participating with a lot of my stuff. Mainly of course with my books, but specifically with the 150 illustrations that went into them, plus using my collection of about 40 WW1 repro. posters, and a collection of contemporary publications. I have also offered to put together a CD of music of the time.

So far so good, and I have met the two charming ladies who organise the event each year and they are seemingly delighted with my planned contribution. As I say I am honoured to be asked, but just have one small reservation.

This is THEIR event and not mine, and I am very conscious of overwhelming their bits with a lot of mine. I don't want to hijack the affair in any way, but being honest I also want to get a bit of mileage for the books if I can. I am not offering anything for sale but just want to get the most from whatever exposure is there. Apparently the Press usually covers it anyway.

I am not really prepared with framed pix as it was never my intention to sell the artwork, so the pix are ust in plastic sleeves, and the posters will be put up using soft-tack, but I think I can make it interesting enough to encourage people to visit.

So if any of you lot are in the area - Puy d'Arnac, between Brive and Beaulieu-sur Dordogne Monday and Tuesday next week, I would love to meet up with you.

Excellent, Norman, just hope it isn't an arnaque...! ;-)

It will be wonderful Norman! I hope you get lots of nice visitors.

Thanks Brian. It"s my first 'contribution' to the village affairs - apart from just turning up at things. Silly to think that after all my professional presentations over the years, this one seems quite important on a completely different level. How times change eh?

Good for you, congratulations!

I would love to have a look in but OH goes off on a work trip tomorrow, my sister and niece arrive for a few days and I have to get my young ones off to school and do the pick ups, plus all the rest of it, therefore a two hour drive in either direction is off my menu. Had it been a couple of week ago I would have showed, if just to say hello face to face to you.
