Knee replacement surgery

Hello does anybody has had or knows about knee replacement?

I need one and I am terrified. How long does one is incapacitated for?

Thanks for help

I had a knee replacement a year ago last September...(I was 71)...I was unable to take anti inflammatory pain killers...so I used ice packs. Do get it moving quickly but don't be foolish and over do it...it's not a race...have regular physio (Kine)...and if possible pool Kine. Even walking around the house is good exercise.

Make sure you have plenty of small pillows to support your knee in bed...once you're home again. I'm back to normal now...gardening...shopping...walking up hill down dale etc. The only thing I can't do is ride my bike yet...but I will!!

A positive attitude will see you though. Every one heals at their own pace...be gentle with yourself

God Bless and heal you quickly.

If you need some one to talk to...email me.

Thank you both, it feels a bit better.

It's not something to be terrified of. My mum had her knee replaced at age eighty through the NHS. What she did and what you need to do is the exercises prescribed post op and the chances are you will be fine. I'm sure that here in France you will do bettter or at least as well.

Mary had her left knee replaced in June this year, she was hobbling after three days and walking well after six weeks. make sure you take all the physio (Kiné) you can and start to move the knee as early as possible to insure complete recovery.

Bonne Chance!!
