After the successes in New York this too may be a good omen that the Democrats have at last found some fighting spirit. Melat Kiros seems to be a principled and formidable woman

The problem with the Democrats is that they have no leader.
Trump leads the Republicans, and many of their politicians do whatever he tells them, for better or worse.
But who leads the Democratic Party. Does anyone actually know ?

The traditional senior democrats are uninspiring, and, incredulously, having totally failed and foisted the disaster Biden on the nation, they are pushing back against the new wave. The Democrats need a bottom up rebuild and the old guard needs to move over. The youngsters can’t do any worse.

Don’t you think she’s terminally tainted with Joe Biden? I’ve no idea what she stands for.
I also think they (the new left wave) believe Biden was complicit in the Gaza genocide. He could have prevented it. Instead he shipped 2,000-lb bombs for use on apartment blocks, schools, mosques and hospitals. Some may even consider him as much a war criminal as Netanyahu et al. I do.

I think her allegedly being Willie Brown’s “side piece” and appearing to ride on his coattails to the top echelon of the Californian Democrat establishment tainted her long before her dismal showing as VP.

Let’s not forget her equally dismal showing as a Presidential candidate in 2020 where she dropped out before any votes were cast in any of the primaries.

Oh, I couldn’t possibly forget her dumpster fire of a campaign or those interviews where she appeared to be several sheets to the wind without a frontal lobotomy.
Sanders is a Democratic Socialist and therefore can’t really lead the Democratic party. He caucuses with the Democrats and votes with them. Technically Schumer , Jeffries (minority leaders in the Senate and House) and whoever the party chairman is are the obviously ineffective leaders.
I don’t know about the first bit but I agree with the second.

I hope the Democrats do manage to extricate themselves from the swamp they’ve created for themselves, but it will be very difficult. As we’ve seen in the UK, it’s not enough to be “not the last lot”: you need inspiring policies and effective communications.
However the US has only got the choice of “the last lot” or “the other lot”.
