I’m looking for a qualified technician to install a log burner in 61 area. We’re about to collect the keys to our property and the burner that’s currently installed has been condemned along with the flue. I’ve found a great place to purchase a burner up in Lisieux but not sure if they install.
If you have bought from a dealer/shop etc, normally they will install it as they need to make sure it works, you understand how it works and it is not detrimental to your property construction. The seller will tell you about installation and don’t be tempted to have it done unless the installer can show their insurance details. Jotul install, they made an excellent job at my son’s house and gave a lesson on how to use it properly, all included in the purchase price.
Thanks for the info, where are/is Jotul? I’ve found a place called Innover in lisieux which I intend to visit but if there’s any others in the Alençon area I’d use them.
Jotul are a brand of stoves (scandinavian I think). They have outlets all over France along with Asgaard another brand. The brand we put in our old place 35 years ago was an Invicta, again outlets all over and for Brittany they sold via Mr.Bricolage and Bricomarché but head office in Rennes. Invicta also make lots of cast iron things like cookwear as well.
I agree with @shiba - it’s essential you get the stove properly installed/fitted, probably with a new liner as the regulations regarding woodburners are really strict these days.
One of my newsfeeds yesterday mentioned that many communes/depts are banning open chimneys and enclosed inserts that all burn wood which were installed before 2002 because of the particles emitted into the air from them. Possibly another thing that will come up in the diagnostic when houses are put up for sale and have to updated or removed by the purchaser. I didn’t continue reading because I have only electric but I am sure details can be found on google etc.
I’ve asked if I can visit them this week, they also sell pellet burning heating systems which we would like to have fitted at some point. They’re a fair way from the house we’re buying but hopefully they’ll be happy to travel.
