Hi - I just had to reply to this thread - Maine Coons are absolutely fantastic cats ...
We're staff to 3 MCs and a gorgeous elderly tabby, they are adorable - gentle giants, very affectionate, laid back and always wanting to 'help' and be with you. They're just over a year old, 2 brothers and their sister. The boys can be more laid back than their sister, she's always busy wanting to see what's going on and nattering away nineteen to the dozen! We've found that they're very intelligent (not always a good thing!) and learnt the 'house rules' quickly. They lie and sleep in the most incredible positions, just like Annie's brilliant pictures of Bublé :-)
He's gorgeous. I just want to blow raspberries on that tummy!
Could be a touch of Norwegian Forest Cat in there...
Annie,
I had to reply after reading the "a cat thats cute, floppy and cuddly, not very bright" part. Last year I adopted a cat (pictured below) from a local shelter and nobody could tell me his breed. One day I found a Maine Coon picture online and it was exactly like my cat. I still have no confirmation, but more and more I believe I adopted a Coon - he's just like you described :-)
And I have to agree with the others, Bublé is absolutely gorgeous!
think i have exactly the same little chair
He is absolutely grogeous Annie, looks like a really cuddly chap!!
Hi Emma, I've just seen this post, so thought I'd put my two penneth worth in.
I have a Maine Coon Crossed with a blue Persian called Bublé. He is utterly gorgeous, with his daddy's looks and his mummy's colouring (daddy was a white/silver tabby coon). He does however have the long hair of the coon on his back and tail, but his mummys fluff every where else.
These cats are SO soft natured and laid back, to the point he's almost horizontal, which thinking of it, that is his usual position, but he's such a gentleman and always crosses his front paws when laid down. The one thing I will say though, they aren't overly bright, in fact my friend says he's only got one brain cell bouncing from side to side, just enough to keep him alive. He often just sits looking into space, usually with a vacant look in his eyes, as if he was looking for something a second ago, but can't remember what it was by the time he's turned his head to look.
I have 2 very naughty Asians too, which are completely different in personality. Even at 11 years old, they're always up to something and its usually not good, but Bublé is just happy to flop in your arms and be carried like a baby, all day if he could.
So if you want a cat thats cute, floppy and cuddly, not very bright, but no bother and uber loving, then a coon is for you! Here's my boy, but I hope you get what you're looking for!
Regards. Annie
Hi Chrissie,
I have recently read the wild road, it is a superb book. I've not yet found any follow ups but if anyone is interested I have a battered but readable copy of the Wild Road.
Gorgeous cats, Maine Coons. I knew somebody in London who had two of them and they were just beautiful. :)
By the way, talking of Norwegian Forest Cats... has anybody else read, and loved, The Wild Road and its follow-ups?
Oh my goodness he/she is just soooooo cute..
