Disappointing news, IMO islands such as Oleron shouldn’t have any chain restaurants at all let alone garbage such as McDonalds…
We’ve eaten at some super, small restaurants there… delicious local produce… maim, miam…
McDo is another challenge for the island to face… 
Many places we go to in the US ban chains outright to protect local businesses.
Oleron has tried this… costly affair and judged to be illegal just a short time ago…
One of the things I hate (yes, I do Hate) is the rubbish that issues from McDo’s in all countries…
Why folk feel free to chuck packets etc out of car windows… beats me… I would love to collect and shove it back through their letter box… 
That is a shame.
