Isn't he adorable? Except he is due to go to the refuge on 2 January when his 'foster time' runs out. Once there, the training he's had will be lost, he'll be frightened and possibly forgotten. His adoption fee from the SPA is €200 BUT LISTEN TOTHISa truly wonderful group of ladies are currently donating towards the adoption fee so it is reducing by the second. Literally. I'm copying his details/current situation so if anyone is tempted all the information you will need is below. My fingers, toes and eyes are crossed because he's absolutely gorgeous.
Charlie, 11 weeks old and all he wants for Christmas is you
Posted on Sunday 29 th December, 2013
Charlie is still waiting and time is running out before he has to be returned from his Christmas foster home back to Mornac SPA.
He’s 11 weeks old now and a beautiful Beauceron cross. Charlie is well socialised, loves children (but too small to eat a whole one), good with cats, not tested with chickens, but not fussed by parrots!
Toilet training going really well. This little chap has a lovely nature.
If you can give him the home that he’s longing for please contact Verity on 0545207931 if you would like more details.
There will be a fee of 200 euros for Charlie, payable to the SPA – for that amount he will be vaccinated, microchipped and you will receive a coupon for his castration at 7 months old.
An update on Charlie from Verity - he's doing extremely well at "potty" with two completely dry nights now. Plus "Anyone interested in Charlie, please remember he has been chipped, had first vaccinations, second due on the 10th, ( but will have been paid for) and he comes with a bon achet for castration when he is old enough. This is an absolute must with the SPA as most pups arrive as part of unwanted litters".
Let me know how you get on Lynn. I know he's after a forever home but every minute he stays out of the refuge is a godsend. Thank you Sandra and Michael!
One of our cat foster homes, Sandra and Michael have offered to foster Charlie for a maximum of 3 months if this helps! I will pass the message to Verity.
Absolutely agree Lynn. The €200 of course covers all his vaccinations, microchipping etc but I think, especially after the Christmas splurge, people too readily flinch assuming a rescue dog should be "cheap". I think it is good that some people walk away after hearing the cost - it shows they weren't that invested in the first place. Hopefully someone will sit, think it through properly and then decide he is worth it.
Very kind of this groups of ladies to help with adoption fees but they do have a purpose too! If someone can't or worse, won't pay an adoption fee, then you have to question the validity of the adoption and whether they have the means to properly care for an animal.
