Men's clothing size

Bonjour à tous et toutes,
I’m chucking a bottle :joy:
My best half is a stout and well nourished 120 cm circumference. What does that make him in a french clothing size??? He reaaaaaly needs some presentable summer garments. Tractor chic doesn’t cut it downtown… He is 1.85 tall. Used to be 190… but the years have taken their toll…

Have a look at an online seller and look at their size charts, you will get actual cm/size equivalences for different brands.

Have a look at https://www.atlasformen.fr/. Try choosing a garment then click on “Trouver votre taille” for a list of dimensions and sizes.

You could also try this site for him…

Despite having lived in France for nigh on 30 years, I still struggle with French men’s clothing sizes, as it seems that they were devised when the majority of French men were significantly shorter. I don’t think I’ve ever had a French suit that fitted properly, and I have spent a great deal of time trying stuff on. Nowadays, I just wait until I’m in either Germany, Italy or the UK for off the shelf kit, or when I was last in Hong Kong, had 2 suits tailor made :rofl:

If you go into an H&M in France, mens jeans are labeled in inches. Yes … that’s INCHES. Well, either that or I’ve lost 8 inches from my waist overnight.
You would have thought that they would have been able to put labels on the garments in French sizes, but apparently not.
