Micro-entrepreneur as a side hustle

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has experience with becoming a micro-entreprise as a side job? I am employed with a company in France and I don’t plan to leave my job, but I do some design-work on the side and I’m thinking of selling it on Etsy. For tax purposes, do I have to declare as a micro-entrepreneur from day one of opening a shop?

Apologies for my ignorance, but in assessing whether I want to take the plunge with this, I just want to make sure I won’t bite off more than I can chew with all the admin for just a small side job.

If not sure enquire at the local Impôts. Don’t try and buck the fiscal system here, the paper trail is long with lots of other involvement and penalties severe if you don’t follow the rules. They can be very helpful with such information and could even point you the way forward.
