A freind of mine is looking to get a french mortgage and I have heard that there are intermediaries whom one can employ to help secure one. Does anyone know about these people and how they work?

These are called "courtiers" and will help with negotiating rates - including with any existing banks. A friend of mine used one who managed to get 0.5% reduction off the interest rate she was quoted by her own bank - in her own bank..
