glorious !
I remember someone describing playing an organ like this as being very much like being stood in front of a Marshall stack playing guitar. There is a sensation of immense and incredible power to be making music through a device like this, where the sound completely envelopes and surrounds the player. And thatâs a beautiful organ too.
Since weâre going a bit classical, one of my favourite pieces is Joseph Haydnâs The Lark. In the days when recordings had to be on physical medium I regularly picked up a Royal philharmonic CD from Tescos for a couple of quid, and not knowing of Haydn by more that reputation, bought a recording of this piece. I donât play it very often, but itâs always a pleasure to hear it again, imagine the bird flying and swooping, pausing, then taking off again.

Listening and watching this, I found the music and the involvement of the players generated a lot of emotions and feelings. The recording is very âliveâ with lots of audience sounds as a backdrop. Itâs really nice when the soloist cracks a smile at the end of the piece too, and you can tell that sheâs felt like the music has something special and was more than just another recital.
