If your old practice, or others close to you, have receptionists actually on the premises (ours doesn’t) it’s definitely worth trying the personal approach. Just generally, although using things like Doctolib and Maiia can be useful, I’ve found I often get better results if I call in, or, at worst, phone.
That is very bad news. They’re building new premises as extensive as the present huge facilities [tho’ I expect some will transfer to the new buidlings from the somewhat tired tower block]
Vast new facilities but not enough medics to run them …
My MT is 35 mins away. He must be close to retirement. When I asked the nurse dealing with me after my op in Oct '23 about moving to a doc in Vire she said “No! Don’t! There are no vacancies with any of them!”
Same with the dentists.I had bad toothache. I went to a dental clinic with several dentists.
At reception
“Are you in pain?”
“Yes! A lot!”
“Do you have an abcess?”
“Yes!”
“Call us in October”
It was July …
Fortunately, MT bashed the infection with antibiotics until it cleared up.
I am in the opposite situation, having moved about 45 minutes away from my médecin traitant. When I recently needed a sick leave certificate, I was able to get an appointment with a closer doc through the médecin de garde service, 116 117. It wasn’t same-day, and was still almost a half hour away, so I’m still weighing my options. But just be aware that in a pinch, you can call the médecin de garde.
But only at weekends, nights and on holidays.
It worked for me on a business day, during the day, when I explained I had no médecin traitant.
