Getting mobile numbers accepted on water companies websites

A French mobile number?

Many, if not most, French utilities won’t accept a UK number as they’re designed for French residents.

Why not just buy a French SIM that will give you a French number? The cost starts at about 2€ per month.

i will make sure i get one when i am over in a couple of weeks
Managed to get through to the next stage using the French number but just said they would contact me at a later date.

Did not think it would be this difficult just to get them to turn the water back on
All a learning process isuppose

If you phone will take one just get an eSIM alongside your normal phone number - useful when in France.

Welcome to SF and glad you’ve got past the relevant stage. Though it’s now academic in your case, others have previously advised that some sites will accept/are programmed to require ‘00’ as well obviously as the country code, others do not accept the 00, wanting French numbers only. Several others also simply made up 10 digit French mobile numbers starting with 06 or 07. If you have any difficulties with other utilities sites, maybe worth trying these options. Good luck anyway!
