Network news

You should have, by now, received the first SFN Newsletter, if you didn’t please check your spam settings - here it is in case you can’t be bothered;

Hello everyone and welcome to the very first SFN newsletter! We are not even one month old and already have well over 100 members!

First off, a big welcome to all our newer members and an even bigger thank you to all our founder members. You’ve all been a fantastic help in getting the site up and running. We have really appreciated your comments and input.

I would especially like to thank Craig McGinty of ‘This French Life’ as without his encouragement and assistance, the network would probably never have got off the ground. Lots of you have started sharing advice, information and links with each other and its great to see the site taking shape. If you have some specialist knowledge to share or are passionate about something, why not start a group or blog about it? I’ve learnt loads since I’ve been reading Bob Toovey’s various blogs.

So what’s coming up? Starting next week, we’ll be profiling a member every week on the main page. If you don’t want to be featured, please let me know - just send me a PM. Equally, if there are things you want mentioned - your B&B, bacon butty selling emporium or - although you are now called Angela, you used to be an electrician called Steve - just let me know and I will do my best to include it.

We will also be running a competition! In fact we’d like to run loads of competitions…some serious and some silly - so all ideas and offers of prizes are welcome. We’d also like to offer our members regular promotions and discounts - we already have our first kind offer from Lynn Doran of Spécialités de Grande Bretagne - 10% off orders for SFN members quoting code SFN01 - so if you know of someone who could offer something similar, please get in touch.

And as the members map is starting to take shape, it would be good to start thinking about some summer get togethers maybe? If there are a few members within striking distance and you’d like to organise something, let us know and we’ll publicise it - and obviously, we’d love to make it there too.

Last but very much not least, if you haven’t already uploaded a profile photo of yourself, please, please, please do so! Some of you have uploaded pictures but not to your profile - this was my fault for not being clearer with my welcoming explanations…Sorry George!

The site is working as well as it is, because people are using their real names and uploading pics. It makes a HUGE difference. Thank you and enjoy!

Catharine and James xx

Thanks for that - I’ll look into it - anyone else not get it?

James

Houston…we have a problem…

Hopefully not that serious though. I will get technical services (James) onto it later when he returns from collecting roof tiles to deposit into the large and muddy hole that passes for a drive…

Thanks for letting me know x

I didn’t get one and neither did Vic Thurling but it was nice to be able to read it here.

I feel left out. Now sitting in the corner with a bottle of red…I did not get my letter! I checkedmy Spam and all the usual stuff is there, maybe my settings jere are wrong?

Congratulations on the site, mate. It’s a great idea.

Summer get togethers sound great too ! My thinking cap is on !

Thanks, I had my newsletter, it did go into my spam though, all looks very exciting… I am so happy to see this site growing and growing, long may it continue. We will be adding to discount offers tomorrow… I think you are both doing a great job…
