I met him back in 1980 in Salzburg - he owned a garage / workshop in the town. OK, it was a Porsche dealership, but nevertheless he welcomed us (my father and I) when we took my dad’s Bedford CF motorhome in because it was misfiring.

We had arrived, only just, at our favourite campsite overlooking the city and the owner of the camp told dad that ‘he knew just the place to get the van fixed’ and escorted us down to the garage the next morning. Turns out that Hans, the campsite owner, had known Niki for years!

A very pleasant gentleman and very down to earth. A sad loss.
