Nothing in Particular

I just tap all the way round with a spoon, soon comes off.

I think I have mentioned before that I opened 3 jars using a gripper and kept them, cleaned each time, ready for re-use in the fridge.

Then with the sharp pointed knife I punch a tiny hole in all subsequent jars, throw away the damaged lid and replace with one from the fridge stock. Never have a problem again as long as I always use the same size jars, and I do.

I put on rubber gloves. Gives you a much better grip.

(sorry if already suggested but have to go and see a man about a dog kinda thing…)

You can try placing a few 'lacky bands around the lid to add extra grip?

If that does not work, sigh, smile and put the jar away for another try…

We purchased an under counter jar opener as recommended by someone on this forum. It works every time without too much effort.

About ten years ago, I said that to a youngish (mid 20’s) guy who I was mentoring at work in response to some potential double entendre he said and he just gave me a blank stare. I had to explain to him what it meant :man_facepalming:. It obviously hasn’t stood the test of time.

Clearly a problem of translation. You should have explained that your postillion had been struck by lightning.

Who knows the meaning of this - ‘Entre chien et loup’?

Between a rock and a hard place?

I doubt anyone would guess correctly

I thought Chien was a dog , mind you I often think of throwing a rock at one close by that keeps barking

Yes it is, I wasn’t translating literally, just trying to think of an equivalent English saying.

I wish to know, If there are those who take umbrige, reply you are merly educating. You may wish to think there are those that need educating…I could not possibily comment…, but may well do.

It was mentioned in the France 24 piece . Makes sense - being able to tell one from the other.
