Notre Dame cathedral

In the wholesome SFN spirit of not letting a good conflagration go to waste for the sake of a bit of kindling, and I even have a few chestnuts and baking potatoes saved to poke into the dying embers…

I recall that when York Minster was struck by a bolt of lightning and caught fire, many sincere believers drew providential conclusions from that Smiting by The Almighty Hand in the heresies of the then Bishop of Durham David “Game of Bones/No Virgin Birth” Jenkins, of that Ecclesiastical Province of York.

I think we should be told who had preached what and where on the Ile de France in April…:smiling_imp:

the fire was no accident. 800 year old oak does not catch fire & burn in that manor.
and besides, there are images around showing someone on the roof ‘making some kind of sparks’ just before the fire started.
It started in an area which was not undergoing any restoration.
Watch & listen to M. Mouton, the architect who has been responsible for the church for many years. It was on LC1 news and could be found on youtube. I would post the link but not surprisingly, it seems to have been deleted! (luckily I downloaded a copy)

I’ve just listened to an interview the Ex N-D Architect gave… I found it quite easily by Googling… so it is not “hidden”.

It is disconcerting to hear his assertions. However, I have not seen any film/video which shows anyone doing anything “suspicious”…

He has given his “thoughts”… he cannot understand how the fire started… and I am supposing he may be called as an Expert during the official investigation.

However, at the moment there is NO proof that this was anything other than an accident… or course there will be theories… and counter-plots… but there are no Facts available to you and I…

Those carrying out the Investigation will be compiling the Facts…seeking the Truth… and I am content to leave it to them.

Edit: this link talks about how the spoken word can be/ will-almost-certainly be… understood/misunderstood according to the inclination of the person listening…

I did wonder how long it would take the conspiracy theories to start

it only takes as long as it takes for people who have questioning minds to begin to ask themselves challenging questions Nellie instead of swallowing wholesale the ‘official’ narrative.

What’s more likely, some sort of overarching conspiracy (with what agenda FFS) or some workman being careless with a blowtorch?

Or possibly gullible people

I was involved as Translator after a devastating house fire… I can confirm the indepth investigations which goes on… no-one will assume anything… it was fascinating to be alongside…

and… it took several months before the Experts were satisfied that they had got to the root-cause of the fire…

of course, N-D is a million times more complicated… but, I would like to be a fly-on-the-wall at this investigation…

yes Nellie. Or gullible people.

just like the 9-11 investigation eh Stella.

I’m still wondering if the religious aren’t wondering themselves how to read this event in terms of which they are the chief custodians and interpreters, the Will of God.

I bet there are very faithful lay members of the Roman communion who are seeking priestly answers to the question, “Is this a sign from God?”

I also think the very prompt statement that the fire was accidentally started will have registered with many as suspiciously premature. It did with me.

Seeing as the place was undergoing repairs… and in the absence of anything to the contrary… it seems reasonable that the fire was termed “accidental”… and I fail to see the use of that term as “suspicious” …

IMO… the investigation will throw light on the darkness…

The ‘someone’ on the roof turned out to be a statue !

Dry oak does burn very well indeed, that’s why we use it on the fire. 800 year old oak will be very dry, there was a high wind and any tiny spark or even something that has been smouldering for some days will set off a blaze.

No one knows what caused the fire, theories abound but that is all they are. You don’t know that it wasn’t an accident, you just assume, remember the adage about that ?

I was not involved in that investigation… as I do not speak their language…:zipper_mouth_face::upside_down_face::rofl:

If you were going to burn down one of the worlds most iconic buildings you would not do it on a sunny evening , in Holy Week with crowds of tourists around

Don’t say that Nellie, the next thing that you know the theorists will come up with the idea that someone dressed up as a priest to do it ! :joy:

No that was Angels and Demons

At least Quasimodo had an alibi, not too sure about the gargoyles though

so the chief architect responsible for notre Dame for many years is wrong then ?

that’s exactly the time they would do it Nellie.
If you take the time & effort to research the disproportionate ammount of ‘accidents’ and loss of life which take place every year in the middle of april, you may, just may, begin to wonder if it all really is a coincidence. Just look back over the last 10 years.
It may come as a surprise to you (I feel sure it will) that the most holy mosque - the Al-Aksa mosque in Jerusalem (which the orthodox jews state they want to return to their ownership) just happened to catch fire at exactly the same time as Notre Dame. Surely just a coincidence.
