Objet Trouvé - Numero Trois

Something else unearthed in my conquest of my back garden.

See photo - the three objects at the top of the photo look suspiciously like fossils. I haven’t washed them but they do seem to be covered by lime scale or something similar.

In the same area I have also found about 20 stones, like the one at the bottom of the photo. It appears to be limestone and has holes like I’ve seen on rock formation by the sea. I’m not sure if these are located together by accident, by nature or by the hand of man/woman.

Yep fossils alright! We have loads here, 24, as we used to be under the sea.

Is the stone light? And are you in a karstic limestone arrangement?

or when you lay out your 20 stones do they vaguely resemble a skeleton?

French dinosaurs?

No, they’re all in the Senate.

The bottom one looks interestingly like a vertebra, but might be a kind of fossilized polyp/coral?

or perhaps a lump of chalk that’s had the flints knocked out of it?

Yes that’s a possibility - there are a lot of rock formations like that in Turks & Caicos which is limestone.

You might be able to see what I mean looking at the rocks in the water in this wedding photo that I took (click to enlarge):

No, not light. I’m pretty sure they are stones rather than vertebrae. Here’s a couple more photos, below.

They were laid out in a straight line but on top of the soil - rather than buried in it - and completely lost in the jungle of grass and weeds. So I guess someone put them there for some reason . . . .
