One of the good guys, an interview with Julian Richer 🙂

He’s also a recovering Tory Party donor :slightly_smiling_face:

My wife had an email from him (probably not personally) and it listed the charities he’s created. I knew of some of them, but he’s obviously a generous and engaged chap.

His business often rated for excellent customer service too.

Prompted me to look up the current cost of my currently unused Richer Sounds NAD turntable - c.€500. Yet another incentive to get out the vinyl - IMO definitely richer sounds.

I bought a NAD 3020 amp, Acoustic Research (AR) 15s and a Micro Seiki turntable from him in 1980. Wonderful quality and a great price. I’ve had a lot of much more expensive gear since which I’ve cleared out, but I still have that amp and turntable, not that I use them  The amp is still highly rated.

Being a bit anal  whenever I bought an album I used to record it immediately to cassette and then play that. So I’ve a lot of vinyl that’s only been played once.

I think he still holds the record for the most sales per square foot in the old London Bridge store.

I used to record to cassette too, sometimes (when young and poor) by putting the cassette player in the room and being very quiet. When I could record from vinyl directly the tapes went in the car and I still played the vinyl. Now I’ve got a brand new turntable (AT mid range) and hundreds of dirty, scratchy LPs. I recently bought a brand new copy of DSOTM…bliss (I’ve just pre-ordered the angry ones Redux/new recording, but on CD)
