For heaven’s sake… we went through an era with farmers (whoever) ripping out trees/hedgerows… and that was discovered, some years down the line… to be an absolute disaster…
Unbroken-winds swept across the now huge open fields, “burning” them dry and often removing topsoil etc… and in winter… nothing could stop the snow from piling across, onto the roads and blocking traffic… and, lastly, the wildlife suffered… (always a last thought). 
Now, this is another attack, from a different angle… I am almost at swearing point…
