This is an odd one, to me anyway. A friend sent a photo to me on Sunday and since then her phone keeps resending it, six times in all so far. The latest just arrived.
Friend is also a technophobe so we have no idea what could be causing this. Can anyone help please?
Friend tried turning the phone on and off. I’ve had the photo another twice since.
She found something on Chat GPT - I don’t know where it got the information - that seems to think Irish and French phones sometimes have issues. We’re seeing the friends tomorrow and will have a look together, but I fear it’s the blind leading the blind.
Failing that she’ll go to the Apple shop when she gets home.
If either phone fell off their respective serving networks before the receiving device signalled receipt of the message, the message controlling box on your friend’s home network might keep attempting to send it until both networks agree that it had been received.
Roaming makes things more fun as your device gets given a new IP address every time it registers on a new network.
Friend has finally got round to deleting the original photos - I had started getting the photo twice a day and a screenshot of what to do about the problem, twice a day as well.
She’s deleted the original message so effectively that she deleted me as a contact as well and had to email me.
Twenty minutes ago I received the screenshot but not the photo. Is this some kind of hangover or should I consider deleting this lady and her texts if the problem persists please?
If not coming via iMessage (“Blue Texts”) or another 3rd party messaging app, the cellular message controller on her home network and that on the roaming network she’s using at the moment might have lost synchronisation and her registration back in her network could indeed resolve it.
