I often guess that when people say “do you know an x”, they actually mean “can you recommend an x”? Googling is so easy, but you have to dig deeper to get a feel for whether a particular x is good, bad or downright dreadful…

I was actually talking generally rather than this specific instance since I know nothing about this place or even where it is. It is just something that strikes me as often there are queries on here that- at face value - 60 seconds on the internet could provide answers to. So people may be seeking something deeper.
And there are many degrees of no good. If someone is a qualified physiotherapist, with everything all in order, then I imagine it unlikely that a marie would refuse to include his listing. However local opinion may have other views and a personal recommendation can tell you a lot more than an automatic listing.
We have 6 kinés in our patch, all on the maison de santé website. However one is due to retire in the near’ish future and is now far more interested in his motorbikes than his patients. So even some of his long standing clients have moved on already, and I don’t think many people would recommend him any more.
The Mairie would be quick to remove anyone from their own Website … who was not up currently to the mark… no doubt about it. They do not advertise anyone… they offer useful information to their citizens.

Is your Doctor sending you for treatment or is it something you are doing off your own bat ???
In France (never tried either anywhere else), I’d choose an Osteopath over a Physiotherapist any day!

@Stella Wouldn’t that open them to challenge from people they left off? The Marie is paid for out of public funds so shouldn’t it apply basic principles of equality, transparency and so on? So unless there was hard evidence of a business not being up to standard then shouldn’t they include everyone equally or they could be taken to task? Personal recommendations are entirely different, which is why you ask for them!

Disagree! Very much depends on you and your problems as for some things osteopathy is not recommended at all. My kiné is dual trained, but doesn’t use any osteopathy techniques on me.

Not the sort of question I’d go to the Mairie for, as some in the local commune are politically motivated & all brother & bob going back a generation or three. Pls note I wrote some!
Oh Jane… the Mairie will often (but not always) offer helpful contacts, usually to do with health, the environment, refuse, emergencies… that sort of stuff.
They do not have to give this info… yellow pages is there for all and sundry… but, if the Mairie does choose to do so, they will certainly not give the contact details for anyone/anything that might not be up to scratch.
On the other hand… if someone/something is NOT included… this cannot be taken as a criticism.
In whatever case… it is entirely down to the individual to choose who to contact…
(By the way… what makes you think that the chap nearing retirement is thinking more about motorbikes than his patients ???)
