Pocket Spring Mattress

Are decent pocket sprung mattress still around anywhere?

Everything seems to be Hybrid (foam and springs).

Found a few at stupid money and some “basics” (cheap but ….).

I’m not totally against hybrid - but half decent pocket sprung are comfortable and easily last 10+ years. I think my head’s more struggling with the fact you don’t/can’t flip them every 3 months - which seemed to make mattress last before.

I think 2 firm singles plus a mattress topper is the way to go.

France made Epeda is the bed my husband favours over the Vispring we brought from UK.

Thanks. I actually found that brand a moment ago - I tried searching for reversible pocket springs which is thinning out the wheat and they came up via an online place.

Now to work out how many springs - and what the actual size costs.

But always good to have a recommendation. And thanks for IKEA - don’t like IKEA mattress based on the stuff in store - although after 60+ minutes in IKEA looking at stuff we’re not buying I’m not at my best)

Another vote for IKEA matresses

Aren’t they all 200cm long though do you’d have to change your bed too if you have s 190?

Not sure if this is the one we bought, which I think was from Habitat et Jardin. But plenty of pocket sprung mattresses around with each side having a latex/memory foam or simikar topping. And reasonable costs. Ours was more than this

Are you a midget?

That’s rude!:rofl: And yes I am . My 2 adult(ish in the case of the 19 year old) tower over me and the 10 going 11 year old is 3 shoe sizes bigger (I’m 39, so normal) but I think now also taller . I’m actually considering s new bed anyway, ours is one of those sleigh bed style which probably waste 10cm on the room anyway and I fancy a 160wide. Are the IKEA ones better than a 6/700 € from But / Darty ect that forever have the 40-50% off?

Whatever I go I’m desperate for s new mattress, ours is awful :sob:

We bought two 90*200 singles from Tediber. They are good. We cable-tied two appropriately sized bases together. There’s a gap that amuses the cat: Madame hasn’t yet found a suitable topper to cover it.

We’ve got a Bultex surmatelas for the Ikea sofa bed we have in the lounge. It makes a fabulously comfortable bed.

Our guestroom mattress was handmade to our spec in Joburg in 2007 and guests often comment on how good it is, tho’ so far only a couple of Capetonian friends have had one made since. We’d have it in our bedroom, but it doesn’t fit our bed.

There’s a similar traditional mattress maker near us in the Aveyron

Might be worth checking out, they have outlets all over France.

Our last house in France came with some of the furniture, including two single beds that were pushed together to make a double. The two bases were held together by a large fitted sheet and it worked well. We did the same thing in the guest bedroom when we moved to the current house.

Jysk have loads of different bed frames as well at reasonable prices. I have a very firm mattress from Jysk and it’s wonderful. They do loads of different sizes as well.

We tend to do to depot ventes for bed frames as you can get really lovely ones and then put a modern mattress inside…
