I agree….and hesitate over buying anything that has required intensive light and water to produce (including Spanish vegetables). My only power in the world is consumer power, so I do try to use it carefully. But my Christmas poinsettia gives me such joy….

Oh I agree! And it’s great that you cosset your plants. 
Orchids are much easier to maintain.
