can anyone tell me when you purchase a property in France can the buyer use any address on the Legal documents that both parties sign or do they have to use the address they are living at
do the documents also have to be traslated into english if the buyer can not read French
i am not planing on doing any of the above just going over my own documents
I asked my OH, she says that translations are discretionary according to the needs/wishes of the buyer. That person can have them done at their own expense but they are only translations and not legal documents unless the translation is carried out by/through a lawyer. Even then they are not legal documents as such here in France. The address should be the main residence of each party or in the case of it being a business transaction the business address of one or both, but as Sheila says, in that case the address for taxation.
Hi Sue. I believe (although other members may know better) that if you do any business transactions in French, there is no obligation to translate them into any other language. As to the address, I would think the one where you are registered for tax, etc. would be the correct one.
