Sorry, to be serious. I was once, accidentally I believe, bitten by a Great Dane on the hand. I was collecting dogs from there for delivery in Northern France and at the first place the woman insisted on treating the wound and bandaging it, but did not mention reporting or injecting. But because Fran had once been injured doing an emergency stop to avoid a dog and had been denied compensation for not reporting it, I reported it straight away to the insurance. Unbeknownst to me they took it very seriously and contacted the owner, a friend, demanding that she take it twice in 2 weeks (I think) to the vet for checks. It caused some bad feeling at the time because our friend thought we had reported her. I did though, see my doctor later and he re-bandaged it and assured himself that I had been injected against …can’t remember, once every 10 years I think, it’ll come to me in a minute but to one of you beforehand, obviously. But definitely not against rabies. I would now act differently.
Ah.. the article did mention Tetanus.. which is another useful jab to keep up to date (albeit every 10 years).
We are due next in 2026, it’s written on the top of our medical file so I won’t forget.
As the article (and the Law) clearly state… all bites/wounds caused by a Dog must be reported… no Owner should feel annoyed if they’ve not followed the rules and someone else has.. !!!
and the Owner should have Insurance for the Dog and if they haven’t they could be in the mire financially…
But definitely not against rabies. I would now act differently.
