I did as you are contemplating in 2004. A Polish family team that had been highly recommended by a friend, who’s judgment I trust, decamped from Nice to my house for six months. Their standard of work was excellent and (after discussion) they added a lot of ideas and touches we hadn’t thought of. We’d renovated a few homes so knew the ropes and all the “management” was done through photos, emails and phone calls.

I think they have retired now, though your neck of the woods would probably have been outside their field of operations anyway. So this post is just as encouragement that your project is totally feasible :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks, all, this is really useful. Point taken re insurance; I will make sure this is definitely in place. Most of the Polish builders near where I live in the UK are efficient and very thorough!

Yes, in London I had a brilliant Polish plumber, and Greek electrician. But fewer Poles in SW France I imagine.
