REGLO phoning England?

Hi all I have a reglo sim deal but when I try to ring England it says impossible international calls supposed to be all Europe help please !

UK left the EU which is what it probably means and not Europe as in the continent. UK is now considered an international third world country which is what la Poste recognise it as when you send registered mail.

You need to change a setting within your account to allow additional charges (as this call will not be included within your tariff) - easy enough to do with their website.

100 international minutes, not just the UK but also around most of the world. Used alot by Asian and Africans so they can call home.

What is the actual wording on your contract? Does it say calls to the U.K.? My Bouygues contract is a bit confusing at times. I can phone the U.K. but those calls are not on the contract so I need to pay for them but it also says I can roam throughout Europe. When they say Europe they are talking about the EU, I cannot roam freely in Switzerland and Andorra. Europe has more than one definition.

Most French phone contracts these days include the UK as a ‘European’ destination. All the ones I’ve looked at do and I’ve looked at several recently as I may change provider. Thet also include the UK as a roaming destination as well. Couldn’t say for Reglo as I’ve never looked at them.

Isn’t this for phoning France when visiting one of those countries?

My mobile and landline contracts with Red (Sfr) both include the UK as a destination along with European countries as well as a roaming country. Pretty sure the others do the same.

Hi Hairbear bought it from Leclerc here in Ruffec

I’m with Reglo.

I got caught out on this one. UK is included as ‘Europe’ a.k. Zone 1 when roaming in Europe

But when in FR and calling Z1

You have to pay extra to call Z1, which incs UK.

In an earlier thread on this topic it was noted that all the FR telcos - possibly all EU telcos - have this policy.

If calling UK from FR is something you do regularly/a lot it’s probably worthwhile getting a cheap UK SIM.

This is how I understood it to work.

When I was in the UK, June last year, I made several UK calls from my reglo sim phone. But it isn’t a smartphone, so may be a different scheme.

You might try What’sApp.

Hi all confused does any one have a sim card contract that includes calls to UK?

Red by SFR offers it for an extra €1 per month but only to landlines.

Welcome @4242 and I’ll excuse you as not knowing me as others do. I am famous for not wanting and therefore not using a smartphone, and therefore can’t use whatsapp. :grinning:

I did try and did get it on my computer but then discovered that it needed to connect with a smartphone. So, no whatsapp.

Once again, and I refer you to the above, you are speaking about smartphones. Not having one but just a simple reglo sim from Leclercs I found last year that it works perfectly well both to other phones in the UK and also from here to there. No contract, I just recharge with €10 credit every couple of months or so, I believe they extract €1.50 per month as the only charge. :grinning:

I’ve been happily using RĂ©glo for some years
However if I want to call the UK, given their high charges for international calls, I too use WhatsApp for calling friends (free obviously) and Skype on my laptop if I need to call organisations like HMRC or my pension company. Skype is absurdly cheap, seems to cost me about 60p for an hour, so I top up my account with a ÂŁ tenner every year or two.

We have an Orange “landline” contract (it uses the internet). We can ring UK landlines free. But that’s probably too old-fashioned

This is very strange to my ears, although I don’t get a detailed record of my calls and costs, I am sure I would have noticed my credit reducing at a faster speed when I was phoning all and sundry when in the UK. And again after Fran died and I had to make really long calls to her pension providors there.

I admit that I did put more credit on it before I went but it didn’t disappear at a fast rate and I had no need to check again 'till after my return.

Yes I have that facility but gave up using the landline years ago because of the swarm of spam calls it attracted.

Just don’t answer (you can turn the ringer off), and only use it to ring people.
