Hi there,
Just wondering if any of you know how to declare income derived from artwork royalties received in the U.K.?
I have drawings with a stock library based in London and an small income is staring to develop. Basically they sell the rights to use an image for an article or book jacket or whatever. So next year I,m going to have to declare to the French impots what i've earned.
Perhaps some of you writers are familiar with this??
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Brian
And thanks for the info. I think that my situation is a little different. I just get a check and no tax is deducted. Guess I'll just put it down as income next time around.
Good luck with sales of your book!

I get publisher's royalties for written work plus copyright royalties from ALCS each year. I have both do the fiscal business there for me, then make a declaration to the impots with which I enclose copies of my tax bills. Thus far I have had very small amounts, the royalties were a couple of hundred two years ago but having paid there I was not charged here. I later applied for repayment there, which I received.
Best I can do. I just had a new book published in April, so next spring is perhaps another story. However, it appears to me that if tax is paid and they have evidence of that here they don't put themselves out to extract a few more centimes as some people claim.
