We need to continue with great care (all precautions) to avoid the worst of a second wave… is roughly the gist of this…
Hi Stella, I’m still mostly staying at home where I am working all week, with the occasional trip out to the supermarket with hand sanitizer and mask. I wish others would do the same for just a few more weeks. Cases seem to be rising ever so slightly here in the UK and the numbers admitted to hospital are consistently around the 500 a day mark. It’s a little worrying especially with the easing of lock down only just started.

Here in Normandie, we are still waiting for the first wave.
As far as we can tell, hardly anyone here has been infected and therefore nobody has any immunity.
So when the holidaymakers arrive over the next few weeks, there is a good chance some will bring the “plague” with them and nobody knows what the outcome will be.
Ask again in September. . . .
There seems to be a definite risk from those who seem determined to come together and have their raves, parties , beach trips etc. whichever country they come from, China excepted, no choice there.
I can see a huge wave happening after the Trump rally at Tulsa, but they will all have signed a disclaimer, so no fallback on him!
Having said that I’m mostly staying at home I am actually going to a barbecue this afternoon. There will be 6 of us present, as is allowed in the UK, all family and we will be outside unless someone needs the loo. We will be very cautious with lots of hand washing and sitting apart from each other. That means food we can eat balanced on our knees but that’s OK. We will all be together at long last.
The US is still seeing huge numbers infected and in some areas cases are still rising. Trump is an incompetent arse and I hope that this terrible disease will be the end of his Presidency, a silver lining in a very black cloud.

‘R’ rate in Normandy is now above 1.
That can happen rapidly from a low base.
The question now is how quickly we can track and isolate contacts.
Maybe the book by John Boulton will help him on his way. It is a sad state of affairs that people will have to die to get rid of the most incompetent President the USA has ever seen.
My friend’s cleaner in Genets had it and so did her son. So it has been around…
There was a small cluster centred around Sartilly, but that was the result of a family bringing it home, and it is believed that all the contacts were traced and isolated.
The new threat seems to be a cluster around Rouen, so we could soon be in trouble. . . . . .
Enjoy your family time and be safe
You’re lovely Lily, thank you x
Two visiting Brits heard English being spoken… by OH and a friend, at his garage… they got off their bicycles and approached… obviously eager to chat. (seems they’ve been here 2 weeks or so…)
They were asked, politely, by the friend, to maintain a distance since they were not wearing masks.
Their response: Oh, there’s no need to worry any longer. It’s all over now there is no threat.
and they came closer and closer… whereupon my OH walked away. He turned back to see the visiting Brits and his friend huddled together…
beggars belief… we’ve all been so good for so long…
?? Over 500 deaths already in Normandy, that’s a wave to me!
Out of a population of more than 3 million. That’s not a wave, hardly even a ripple. . . . .
And continue to do so.
We are hoping to have a get together in the garden this week, good weather forecast, but we will be separated at different tables.
If folk can just use a little common sense… for just a little longer…
If you’re eating… will you be cooking … and if so… what?
I love to hear what you are up to… so delicious.
Thank you for that. I have not decided yet. One of our friends makes a very good Greek salad, so maybe souvlakia.
Loads of raspberries in the garden.
Nothing that needs too much standing, bad back!
OK… I wait to hear… licking my lips in anticipation…
We are down in the Aude and have got off very lightly but the Brits are flooding in down here now, in fact they have for the last fortnight. Coming across and chancing they don’t get caught which they don’t seem to have been. I suspect we could get a second wave worse than the first. The locals seem to have decided it is all over as well. Went into Limoux square this morning and plenty of hugging and kissing going on. The Bise is alive and well.
