Advice re selling a french property privately please ie not with an agent. Do you still need notaire valuation etc?

Ah thanks just what I wanted
We bought our house privately, although of course using a notaire for the actual sale documents. Basically the owners had prepared all the documents, diagnostics and so on. And they told us how they had estimated the price, which we knew was about right anyway as we’d researched other houses in the area. They didn’t have a for sale sign, but since we found them on the internet that didn’t matter. Bit they did have a good description of the property and photos - better in fact than many we received from estate agents!
