Senior cat food recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendation for food for an older cat? I’m principally looking for dry food - he eats wet food most meals, and considers dry food a treat - but any personal recommendations welcome.

He’s 10 years old and sterilised. He goes out a fair amount but we keep him in overnight.

I suggest you check with your vet. Older pets can have heart and kidney issues that need to be taken into consideration when It comes to choice of kibble.

We buy Perfect Fit brand for sterilised cats for our tigers who also supplement their diets nicely with mice, lizards and the occasional snake.

We give them wet food as a treat and when it is hot but as @SuePJ says, if you are not sure, ask your vet and they will most likely try and sell you Royal Cannin (bit pricey for our killers)

Mainly from eating commercial pet foods and dry stuff. Just feed them real food

Like chicken?

Nothing less than guinea fowl, but preferably pheasant or partridge!

Actually, I think best see what your vet recommends.

Our vet recommended what they sell, but we said we feed real food. They said you cat needs taurine suppliments as they dont make taurine themselves. I had to remind the vet that meat is a good source of taurine, so ask a vet, no research yourself.

Our cats were only ever fed supermarket own tinned food (1 tin between 4 of them in the morning) and dried food ad lib. They all lived 18 - 22 years.

I doubt the modern profit centred food was as good as the older stuff just like human food, society was different, people were thinner,
